The National Biodiversity Future Center is one of the five National Centers on European research supported by Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The Vision of NBFC is to promote the sustainable management of Italian biodiversity in order to improve the planet’s health and return beneficial effects, essential for all people.

The main goal of this project is to address interdisciplinary and frontier research and innovation activities devoted to the monitoring, conservation, restoration and valorization of Italian biodiversity. Specifically, this project aims to understand and address the direct drivers of biodiversity decline and to make biodiversity a central element of sustainable development.

The BGC lab is involved in spoke 4 of the project, on area-based conservation planning and management.
